Project 3

There are several theories around Michael Jackson’s death, which brings us to the first conspiracy. This suggests that Michael Jackson is alive and faked his death to run away from his debt. “Michael Jackson was deep in debt; over $500,000,000 to be exact, and had no way of paying it all back…, Michael blew all his expenses on cars, gifts, travel, art, zoo animals, jewelry, and charity”(Needham1). Conspiracists believe this theory because Micheal Jackson was “tapped out”.

According to Accountant Ackerman;

In 1993, Michael Jackson was already 30 million dollars in debt, and as the years went on it grew tremendously, and again in 2013, Accountant Ackerman actually revealed in Michael Jackson’s court trial that he received no loans after 2007, and was three or four months behind payments of his San Fernando Valley home, where his mother stayed at the time of his death. (Needham 1)

This conspiracy is the least probable, but also has some mysteries leading up to his death.

Michael Jackson was actually spotted crossing the Mexican border in 2017. “A border patrol officer had reportedly seen Jackson crossing from California to Mexico, soon after his reported death. However, nobody has been able to find any trace of the star in Mexico”(Let's solve some of the mysteries surrounding Michael Jackson's death 1). This means Michael Jackson could still be out there. But, had to fake his own death due to the fact he could not pay off his debt to the banks, people, or to whomever he owed money to. Maybe he thought this was the easiest way out of his debt.

The second conspiracy theory regarding the death of Michael Jackson suggests that his cardiac arrest death was a cover up story to the people. One of Michael Jackson's daughters; Paris, tells news agencies “she believed Jacksons 2009 death due to cardiac arrest was a set up” ( Let's solve some of the mysteries surrounding Michael Jackson's death 1). "He would drop hints about people being out to get him," she said, "And at some point he was like, 'They're gonna kill me one day… Paris was also asked by interviewer Brian Hiatt, ‘if she thought her father was murdered’, the 18-year-old replied: Absolutely"(Savage 1). Some also believed it was an infamous secret group that targets celebrities; called the Illuminati. They also did not have enough research or evidence concerning Michael Jackson's death. The only proof they could provide in the autopsy is that he had been on drugs because they were in his system. There could have been multiple people involved with his death, but his doctor got charged for involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to two years in jail, as well as getting his doctor's license revoked.

The last conspiracy theory is about Michael Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray. He was a cardiologist, but also a personal doctor for Michael Jackson in 2006;“Reports indicate that the two men soon became friends and, as Jackson began making plans for his upcoming 2009 concert tour, he hired Dr. Murray to be his personal physician for an astounding $150,000 a month” (“Conrad Murray Biography” 1). Now, how this conspiracy theory came about makes a lot of sense. Since Conrad Murray was his doctor he would not get much jail time for his murder. He was a doctor and Michael Jackson had a lot of medical conditions.

Conrad Murray was writing him prescriptions for propofol because Michael Jackson was claiming,

He could not sleep at night and Police discovered more than 20 prescriptions inside his rented Holmby Hills home, including methadone, fentanyl, percocet, dilaudid and vicodin… Dr. Murray also gave Michael Jackson lorazepam, an anti-anxiety medicine, and midazolam, a muscle relaxant. The addiction got so bad to the point where Michael Jackson asked Cherilyn Lee, a registered nurse and nutritionist, whom Jackson employed, told ABC News that the singer begged her to buy more of the drug for him, she refused. When Michael Jackson was starting to overdose, Conrad Murray left Michael Jackson's side for a few minutes to go to the bathroom. When he returned he found the singer with a weak pulse and had stopped breathing. Reportedly, Murray immediately started applying CPR to revive the singer. In addition, in what has garnered plenty of controversies, Dr. Murray also administered another drug, flumazenil, to try to offset the sedatives already circulating in Jackson's body. Some experts have said Murray's use of this additional medicine may have actually exacerbated the problems propofol had caused. 82 minutes passed before the doctor or anyone else at Jackson's home called paramedics to the house. When emergency officials did finally arrive, Dr. Murray at first failed to tell them about the drugs he injected into the singer. Jackson was officially pronounced dead at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. (“Conrad Murray Biography”.1)

Conrad Murray, plays a big part in his death. He was the last person associated with Michael Jackson at the time of his death. This conspiracy is the most probable cause of death for Michael Jackson, a setup from his doctor to overdose.
